Eid ul Adha which is usually known as greater eid means ‘ eid of sacrifice’.It is celebrated for the commemoration of willingness of Hazrat Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismael on the command of Allah. The foudation of Eid ul Adha came from Surat Baqrah Ayat number 196 in the Holy Quran. It consist of thee days of celebrations. It is celebrated after the annual pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia by worldwide Muslim.Referring to the history of Eid ul Adha for almost four thousand years ago, in the mecca’s valley which was a dry and rocky place, Hazrat I brahim was commanded by Allah to bring his son Ismael to the valley. Hazrat Ibrahim was preparig to turn back for his journey that his wife asked whether he is going to leave his wife and son  in the valley. He gestured her to the sky showing that Allah asked him to do so. He left his wife and son along with plenty of water and food. Within few days both of them began to feel hungry and dehydration. She ran up at Al safa and Al Marwah in search of food and water but could not found it. She prayed to Allah for deliverance. A spring of water gushed forth from the earth. This water was named as Zam Zam.Ibrahim was commanded by Allah to return  to the valley and to build up a holy place of worship which would be adjacent to the Zam Zam well. Hazrat Ibrahim along with his son constructed a mortal structure which is known as Kaaba. When his son Ismael was about 13, Allah commanded Hazrat Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismael. He decided to fullfill the command of Allah but could not just lay and drag his son down without his constent. He told the whole matter to his son. Hazrat Ismael aked his father to do what Allah has commanded him without any reservation and hesitation. As Hazart Ismael was laying patiently under the knife, Allah Almighty commanded that their sincere intentions have been accepted.Allah commanded him to replace and sacrifice the goat instead of his son. Muslim follows the same on the occasion of eid. They offer the pre sunset prayer and visit to graveyards to pray fatayah for the relatives who have passed away.
